Gotta say, I am ok with no one to talk to tonight. My husband went out to watch basketball and my 6 mile run today kind of kicked my butt. Gives me a great opportunity to get a new book started, I travel tomorrow and want to be engrossed in a book so I can distract my self on the plane ride. Besides, it has been far too long since I hunkered down and read a book.
The time myself gave me some time to try new recipes. A few with success, a few not so much. Here is one that was a success and a great companion when the evening called for quality TV time.
Lemongrass Cosmo |
- 1 1/2 oz. vodka
- 1 1/2 oz. lemongrass syrup
- 1 oz. lime juice, fresh squeezed
- 1 oz. cranberry juice
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake until well chilled and serve.
No substitute for fresh squeezed lime juice. I usually buy a bag, squeeze them all and freeze them in small containers. Defrost as needed. It really does make a difference. This is a great make-ahead drink for a crowd, mix up large batches in advance and park them in the fridge. Just make sure the minors don’t think it is Kool-Aid!
About 10 servings would be…
2 cups vodka
2 cups lemongrass syrup
1 1/3 cups lime juice
1 1/3 cups cranberry juice
20 servings…
4 cups vodka
4 cups lemongrass syrup
2 2/3 cups lime juice
2 2/3 cups cranberry
If you just want a traditional cosmos use Triple Sec/Cointreau in place of the lemongrass syrup. Oh and by quality TV I of course mean mindless TV. Anyone watch Raising Hope? Stupid funny!
I love having an evening to myself.
ummmm yum!! I usually buy the huge bag of limes from Costco and freeze them too. You are rocking the running! Maybe some day I will catch up to you 🙂
So I want to know, did you make the recipe for 1, 10 or 20 🙂
All of the above.
Cosmopolitans are my go-to cocktail. I absolutely adore them. Love the lemongrass syrup addition to this one.
