Spring cleaning has been on our agenda over the past month. The kitchen was in dire need, especially in organizing the food items in the cabinets. I’ve been trying to work our way through the food we’ve had hanging around for awhile, mostly sauces and marinades. I discovered we had three different flavored skewers.
These skewers are flavored with all natural flavors and is a quick way to give items a good flavor. When we first bought these I was skeptical but we were pleasantly surprised that they actually worked. It of course doesn’t replace the traditional marinade but it will do in a pinch and it doesn’t add any calories or fat. They have quite a few flavors; honey bourbon, Thai Coconut Lime, Ginger Mango and a whole bunch others.
Last weekend we passed on a few possible plans and we literally did nothing. It was such a luxury to have time on our hands to use however we wanted. We need to find more time like that. We took advantage of the nice weather a grill up some kabobs. We used the Thai Coconut Lime skewers, my favorite. We skewered beef, onions, red peppers, and poblano peppers seasoned them with a bit of salt. The kids had beef and pineapple. The pineapple was DELICIOUS. Super juicy and it soaked the flavor up so well that it was actually a bit spicy. It was funny to listen to them describe the spice, the four year old said it made his tongue tingle. The leftover pineapple was a great addition to salad for lunch.
Have you ever used these skewers, what did you think?
We HAVE used them, someone so kindly gave us our first package and we have been hooked. In fact, we are making kebobs for mother’s day and using them! NUM!
Enjoy your Mother’s Day, I hope the kitty gets you something nice.
Ah, I need to do the same thing with my pantry – things get lost in the back so easily!
I’ve never even heard of those skewers before – I imagine you still have to smoke them?
Happy Friday – finally a gorgeous day!
No soaking needed and we grilled them. Yummy stuff. I know I hope to eat dinner outdoors tonight. Enjoy!
