What a beautiful day we had for Halloween. Sure it was a bit chilly when you were not in the sun, but it could have been a ton worse. I swear it rained or was freezing every year growing up. We spent the day at a friend’s block party before heading out to trick or treat.
The day got off to a rough start with a little hair of the dog.
But things soon improved.
A good time was had by all! Well except maybe the dog.
The kids carved pumpkins in between cruises on the Barbie Jeep. And plotted their trick
or treating strategy. Trick or treat time came way to fast for us adults!
Luckily we got a chance to eat some chili to warm us up and convince the kids to eat a late lunch.early dinner. Not that it ever helps them dive into the candy. I contributed a cheese ball in the shape of a mummy head. I had hoped to make it for Hackoween at a friends suggestion but never got around to it.
3/4 C. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 C. 2% reduced-fat cottage cheese
1 T. Dijon mustard
1/8 t. cayenne pepper
8 oz low fat cream cheese
9 oz vegetable soup mix
Process all in food processor until smooth.
Wrap face in strips of deli meat and use olives for eyes if you so choose. Best to mold it in a Halloween mask to get the face shape (I did not have one on hand, did my best).
We were then off to trick or treat, the kids had two real destinations. The scary house and the McNamara’s, who always provide great Halloween fun for kids and adults.
