Lego silicon cake pan! I am a sucker for these type of things, I could not resist. Thinking about it, this was the only souvenir I brought home for myself, the sunburn doesn’t count. Our nephews our visiting tonight so I thought I would give it a whirl. I made a standard cake mix and dyed portions of the batter typical Lego colors.
I am not too familiar with the tricks of baking in a silicon pan and this pan didn’t come with any directions. I do use Silpat sheets all the time so I figured I would just dive in and give it a try. The cake ended up taking a lot longer than the directions suggested. I think I overfilled the pan. The cake portions came out with relative ease, and look super cute. Though the edges were brown (the picture makes them look burnt, that was not really the case). The cake also came out a bit spongy, I think I should have wiggled the pan a bit to get the air out of the batter. Guess I better investigate before giving this another try, I will hold judgment on the silicon at this point.
