We had a progressive dinner on the block this weekend. In Winter we rarely see the neighbors, unless maybe we drive past them in the alley, so it was really fun to spend the evening with everyone. We all met up at one house for appetizers. Tons of great food, chicken satay with peanut sauce was my favorite. I am going to have to attempt to make that recipe. We then split up to two different houses for the salad course. Out salad was fantastic, complete with oven fresh bread. The other house had a salad buffet, great idea! We then split again to two other houses for dinner, the groups we mixed up so we dined with different people than were with us for salad. We had pasta with the most delicious bolognese sauce I have ever had. Seriously delicious! We then met back together at one house for dessert. We hosted dessert, I made mini cupcakes, banana chocolate chip with peanut butter frosting and topped with bacon (not the original recipe called for them to be battered and fried, I skipped that step). They were tasty, the three-year old couldn’t get enough of the leftovers. We also made a Cherry Garcia cocktail, it was a big hit. People with even addresses brought desserts as well, lots of great stuff. The leftovers are taunting me from the kitchen.
This was the first time we have ever participated in a progressive dinner, very un-suburban of us. We had a great time and look forward to many more on our block. We are hoping to do a BBQ one in the Summer.

Oh my! How fun! I would LOVE to do something like that, but I think you need to know your neighbors first 🙂 That cocktail sounds sinful and wonderful!
I want one of each. Cupcakes and cocktails.
