It was an exciting week with the kids starting school. Kindergarten for the youngest, he is now a full-time student…
The kitchen was not exiting this week, lots of reruns. Let’s see, I at this spicy watermelon salad about four or five times last week. I have finally run out of watermelon. The kids requested birthday pancakes for the first day of school. I baked up a batch of salted caramel bars for the daycare my son left now that he is in school full-time, he has been there for almost six years. Nothing says thank you like butter and sugar. I was sure to do a thorough taste testing before delivery. I made this eggplant, zucchini, and tomato casserole again with the yummy CSA vegetables. This time as a side dish to share a plate with fish. Lastly, I made a batch of charred chile oil for a weekend food swap.
Hoping to have some new things coming out the kitchen soon!
I had the same day care provider from when Hannah was six weeks old until she started first grade – we both lucked out! Hope the kids have a great week back to school – and you went to a food swap?? What?!
Your kids are adorable. I am getting a bit antsy about my son’s first day of kindergarten tomorrow. He is going from 3 half days of preschool to full day kindergarten. It won’t feel differently when I bring him in the morning, but I know it will hit me when I realize I don’t have to pick him up at 11am. Where does the time go? Those pancakes look so sinfully delicious. I can understand why the kids wanted them for their back to school breakfast. I hope they both had a good first day.
Hope your first day goes well, Finn is a pro now at kindergarten and can’t wait to get there everyday.
